I Now Call This Meeting to Order!
My good friend, Renee, really wants to know about our family meetings! This makes me smile because it will be at least a couple of years before her adorable son (at whose birth I was present) is able to sit still for a meeting. But I love Renee, so I'll humor her. ;)
We've actually tried to organize a time where our family could "meet" for quite some time now. But only recently has everything started to click. And I know it will only get better from here. I love my babies, but watching my kids grow in the Lord is so exciting!
As of now, we "meet" after dinner on Monday nights. Everyone sits around the coffee table (which is where we eat dinner), and we just talk. Papa Bear asks me, in front of the kids, what discipline issues we have been dealing with. I tell him, and he briefly talks out the issues with the kids. Next, he asks me about growth I am seeing in each child. I answer, he adds his observations, and we take a little time to pat the kids on the back. Lastly, before we close in prayer, we ask the kids about our parenting, and what they'd like to see us do differently. If they see things that are convicting, which they often do, we take as much time as we need to repent and apologize to them. Then, as I said, we end in prayer. Papa Bear usually closes after the kids and I have prayed.
And there you have it! Pretty simple stuff.
Do you have an organized family time? If so, I'd love to hear how your family does it!
