Well, It's Quite a Ride
I'm home after a rockin' late night Lost party at my brother's house. I skipped my Bible study to watch Lost, and the leader (without any hard feelings at all) said, "Enjoy your Lost party!"
Hmmm...
[church humor]
I have to admit that I probably shouldn't be writing this post until I've re-watched the episode tomorrow (I always re-watch the episode). I feel like I've missed an especially large stash of Easter eggs tonight. Maybe they just didn't reveal much, but I feel like they did, and I am determined to search it out.
I already had a t.v. crush on Sawyer, and I wasn't particularly fond of Jack or Kate. Although, this is completely the fault of the writers for changing both of their characters after the first season (I'm loving them again in the off-island reality). And, by the way, Jack and Kate just aren't my favorite characters; I still love them. I have an unusual affection for every single Lost character...except for Charles. Even Ben's jerky dad can evoke some sympathy from my bleeding heart. But y'all, I was fighting back tears watching sweet, sentimental, shoe-box burying Sawyer cry. Oh, Lord have mercy was that a tear-jerker or what?!
Under normal circumstances, I would have felt sorry for a woman who suddenly realized that her crush would never amount to anything. But seriously, Kate, Juliet just died. She's barely cold! And then, to top it all off with a lie about just wanting his help to find Claire?! That's just shameless.
So, here's the real question I guess, because there are bigger things at stake here than romance: Is Jacob the good one or the evil one? I'm still voting for good, especially because his adversary used man to kill him. And he didn't fight back when he was attacked. But if he is the Jesus character (and I don't think there is any doubt at this point that an ultimate battle of good v. evil is upon us), he will be back. And with Sayid's arms spread like a crucifix, I don't think it would really matter if he took the blue pill or the red pill.
Oh, wait, that's a different story. Well, kind of.
What were the temple dwellers trying to prove by torturing Sayid (Jacob incarnate?)? And why did he pass (not pass)? It broke my heart watching him tortured because I felt (and yes, I do know this isn't real - kinda) that he was suffering physically but was also being haunted by his past sins.
I do not for one second believe that Claire is overtaken by darkness. I mean, Danielle escaped this fate; and clearly, Claire is just a blond Rousseau. Which is weird...but much better than her being bad. But remember, she had been inoculated against the sickness just months before she disappeared. So yeah, I'm not buying it. She's good. She just needs a bath.
I don't have any real predictions...although I'm sure El and I will come up with many in our next podcast. I still believe that Juliet wants Sawyer to come find her (the one who is alive and well and living off the island). They'll go out for coffee. They'll go dutch.
Did Kate recognise Jack, or did time just stop as she spotted "the one" and felt the adrenaline surge of love at first sight? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Love predictions:
Jack and Kate
Sawyer and Juliet (although I don't know if it will be the on-island Sawyer or the off-island one...or if they will eventually be one and the same).
Return predictions:
I am going to boldly predict that no one will have died (except maybe Charles and the anti-Jacob) by the season finale of Lost. I know, it's a leap, but I'm an optimist.
Finale predictions:
I think they will all be on the island at the close of the show. It would make me happy, anyway. Their island life seems to have so much more potential then their off-island life ever did. Maybe that's just because I would love to live on an island (sans smoke monster of course). Who knows.
